I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a Bachelors’ Degree in Elementary Education. I have added an Early Childhood Endorsement through Peru State.
My husband Mark and I live in Bellevue and have been married for 33 years. We have two children Matthew and Laura and a daughter in-law, Melissa, who all live in Omaha.
My family worships at St. Matthews, in Bellevue, Nebraska. My first teaching job was in Copperas Cove, Texas, a small town by Ft. Hood. I spent three wonderful years teaching 1st grade before moving to Germany where I ran a Co-op Preschool for the Department of Defense. After moving to Nebraska in June of 2000, I taught Preschool for two years and then Kindergarten for seven years at Pilgrim Lutheran in Bellevue, Nebraska. Prior to coming to St. Mark I worked as a contractor on Offutt Air Force Base for Parents as Teachers Heroes at Home as an in-home visitor for children birth- to age-3-years-old. This is my ninth year at St. Mark Preschool as the Director and Lead teacher for the Pre-K classes. I love being an early childhood educator and am honored to share the love of Jesus with children.
I enjoy reading, horseback riding, pottery, gardening and woodworking. My dad, siblings, and in-laws all live in Nebraska, so we are blessed to be able to spend time with our family.
Lead 4-year-old Teacher

I graduated from Concordia University, Seward, in 1990 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and an added endorsement in Early Childhood Education. In 2018, I earned my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Nebraska Wesleyan, Lincoln. Conducting research and writing a thesis was one of the most difficult yet rewarding tasks of my career. Since its completion, I have presented on my thesis topic at both district and national conferences and have written an article for an online Lutheran Education resource called Shaping the Future.
My work experience includes teaching in parochial schools in Georgia, Kansas, and Nebraska. I have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. One of my teaching strengths is the ability to create learning through games and “out of seat” activities.
My husband Gale and I were blessed with four children—Jarod, Ryan, Christian, and Adelynn. My hobbies through the years have included playing the flute, painting, gardening, “upcycling” furniture, and watching our children’s sporting events. While Gale enjoys an active role as a coach, I enjoy holding down the bleachers.
I am blessed beyond measure every day and am excited to be part of the St. Mark ministry team. I look forward to supporting your children and families as you walk with our Lord Jesus.
Lead Teacher – 4 Year Old Class
I have over 25 years’ experience working with preschoolers and their families – starting in Iowa and then in Wisconsin, and most recently in Indiana.
I am from Omaha – a Burke High School graduate. I met my husband, Glenn, while attending Concordia Teachers College, in Seward, NE. I transferred to Valparaiso University and after graduation was consecrated as a deaconess in the Lutheran church. Glenn and I have been married for 40 years. After 34 years as a regular pastor, Glenn became an intentional interim pastor for the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. We were overjoyed that this allowed us to move back to Nebraska in 2015. We have three children and six grandchildren. Anna and husband, Kevin live in Placerville, CA and have 3 children; Rachel and husband, Aaron live in Waconia, MN and have 3 children; and Timothy lives in Taiwan working as an English and Bible teacher and missionary. My mother (St. Mark member, Ardis Bergquist) lives in Omaha and Glenn’s parents live in the Norfolk, NE area.
Glenn and I recently became members of St. Mark and have loved being part of God’s family here.
Teacher – Pre-K 5 Class
I grew up in Battle Creek, NE. I graduated from Concordia University, Seward with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I continued my education at UNO and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Shortly after graduation, I married Vincent Taylor and became an Air Force wife. We have lived in Texas, South Dakota, Florida, Louisiana, and returned to Nebraska in 2018. We have four children, Briel (11), Ryan (10), Xarion (7) and Aviana (5).
I had the privilege of being a stay at home wife and mother for the last 12 years. I spent my time volunteering in our churches and schools as a substitute teacher, classroom aide, Sunday school and VBS teacher, and served as a board member on parent/teacher and school board organizations. Most recently I have worked in the childcare and preschool at King of Kings Lutheran church, where my family and I attend worship.
I enjoy spending time with my family, playing games, reading, walking our dog Niko, and watching my children’s activities.
I have a passion for working with children, and I am honored to be a part of St Mark Preschool ministry. I look forward to getting to know your children and families!
I grew up on a farm outside Lyons, Ne where I enjoyed taking care of the many animals I had. I have lived in Omaha for 15 years and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a speech communication major. My husband and I have been married for 12 years and have two daughters. Olivia (10) and Sydney (6) both attend Concordia Academy. We have two dogs, two cats and a guinea pig. I enjoy spending time with my family watching movies, reading and playing games.
Child Care Teacher
I graduated from Concordia Jr Sr high school in 2018. I spent 3 semesters of my college career at the University of South Dakota. I transferred to the University of Nebraska Omaha in Spring 2020 and I am pursuing a major in elementary education with an endorsement in special education. I have worked in childcare since 2016 and plan to continue teaching while pursuing my degree. I love working with children and I am excited to share my love of Christ with those around me.
I have lived in Omaha Nebraska my whole life with my parents Mary and Gerry and my older sister Bailey. Bailey was married in Fall 2019 and I gained a brother-in-law named Matt.
I enjoy reading, crafting, camping, weightlifting, singing, and dancing (in my kitchen). I can’t wait to see where the Lord takes me and how he will guide my future.
Child Care Teacher
I graduated from Millard North high school in 2017 but attended Concordia Academy for elementary school. I am a junior at The University of Omaha Nebraska where I am obtaining a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with an endorsement in inclusive practice. I absolutely love working with and teaching children.
I have lived in Omaha, Nebraska the majority of my life but, there was a short time that I moved around and lived in Lacombe, Louisiana for about 2 years and Sacramento, California for only 1 year but at that time, I gained so much experience meeting new people and site seeing all of God’s beautiful creations. After living in those two states we moved back to Omaha with the whole time being with my parents Dave and Val, and my 9 siblings.
I enjoy spending my free time with family, friends, boyfriend, and dog. I also enjoy camping, working out, and shopping. My dog, which is a Shetland sheepdog (sheltie) is named Beau and he consumes a large portion of my time. We love learning new tricks and going on walks!
Child Care Teacher
I grew up on a farm outside of Tekamah, Nebraska. After graduating in 2003, I attended Chadron State College for 2 years and then the University of NE at Lincoln where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development. I worked for 2 years at a Head Start in Loup City, Nebraska before being blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for several years while living in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
In 2013 my 3 children and I moved back to my hometown where I worked as a paraprofessional at the Tekamah-Herman public school. In 2015 I ran a small preschool out of my home and one year later partnered with a friend to open a center for 3 to 5 year-olds at the local Baptist Church. That was a successful venture that I enjoyed doing for the last four years. This spring I made the decision to move to Omaha so that my children could attend Concordia Lutheran Schools. My son Miles (16) is a junior at the Jr/Sr High School and my daughter June (9) and son Colt (7) are fourth and first graders at the Academy. I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to not only work at St. Mark’s Preschool and Child Care Center, but also to be in the same building as my youngest children a few days a week.
I have spent the majority of my adult life as a mother and made a career out of working with and educating young children, and now this fall I am looking to add sterile processing technician to my repertoire. When I’m not working or going to school, any spare time I have is spent hanging out with and taking care of my family, cooking, going on walks, and watching movies. Being together at home is definitely my favorite place to be and what I enjoy most.
Rev. Eric L. Jay
Pastor Jay accepted his call to St Mark in August of 2017 to serve as Associate Pastor, and In 2018, St. Mark called him to serve as Sole/Senior Pastor.
A Southern California native, Pastor Jay graduated with a Master’s in Theology and Culture as a student of St Louis Seminary via the Cross Cultural Ministry Pastoral Certification Program (CMC) located at Concordia University in Irvine, California. The CMC focuses uniquely upon equipping students and future pastors to infiltrate strategic urban settings as church planters. As such, Pastor Jay spent the the last 2 years of his seminary training and the first 3 years of ministry as pastor of The Gathering; a church plant of which Pastor Jay was founder. Simultaneously, Pastor Jay served briefly as the Interim Pastor at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Westminster, California. In 2012 he accepted the call to serve as sole pastor of St John’s Lutheran Church in El Segundo, Ca, and served there for 5 years before coming to St. Mark.
After accepting the call to St Mark’s in August 2017, Pastor Jay preceded his wife Sarah and daughter Elizabeth who later joined him here in Omaha. Much of Pastor and Sarah’s time outside of church is spent enjoying time as a family with their daughter “Bizzy” Lizzy and son Jesse (J.J.). Having met at and graduated from the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music (Chapman University in Orange, Ca) with degrees in Music Performance, both Pastor and Sarah also love performing and teaching music.
